Other Patlabor Related Books
Below is a chronological listing of selected Japanese related Patlabor books. I've tried to make it as comprehensive as possible, but one or two books may have slipped through the cracks . Note: Please do not ask me to scan images from artbooks for you. I unfortunately do not have the time and do not own all of the books listed.
SD Club 3
Notes: The SD Club series contains mostly SD Gundam comics, artwork and stories. I believe this volume contains some SD images of Ingrams as well as an SD Ingram featuring on the cover (bottom left).
SD Club 4
Notes: The SD Club series contains mostly SD Gundam comics, artwork and stories. I believe this volume contains some SD images of Ingrams as well as an SD Ingram featuring on the cover (bottom right).
Mobile Suit SD Gundam's Counterattack Movie Programme
Notes: Movie programme for SD (Super Deformed) Gundam short that played in conjunction with "Patlabor the movie" in theaters in July 1989. The second half of the short featured SD Ingram labors. The programme contains story synopsis for both sections of the short, character profiles, a map for the second part of the shorts which shows the countries featured in it, staff profiles, a short full colour manga and full staff and cast credits.
SD Club 13
Notes: The SD Club series contains mostly SD Gundam comics, artwork and stories. This volume contains a feature on SD Patlabor images.
Meganix - Kaida Yuji Illustration Collection II (B-Club Special)
Notes: A collection of artist Kaida Yuji's paintings, mostly used for model kit boxes and promotional material. Apart from containing quite a few images used on Patlabor model kit boxes, there's images for anime series such as "Mazinger Z", "Aura Battler Dunbine" and "Mobile Suit Gundam". Images for "Thunderbirds" also appear in the book.
Ygg-Drasil - Akemi Takada (Dragon Magazine Special)
Notes: A Akemi Takada artbook which contains quite a number of Patlabor images, mostly previously used in Dragon Magazine. The book also contains a number of original pieces and images from "Creamy Mami". Also included is a conversation between Yoshitaka Amano and Akemi Takada and a fold out poster.
Works - Kaida Yuji Illustration Collection III (B-Club Special)
Notes: The third in the series of Kaida Yuji artbooks. This book also contains more of his Patlabor paintings, mostly ones used on model kit boxes, but also an image used on a poster insert for Newtype magazine. Other images include "Mobile Suit Gundam", "Heavy Metal L-Gaim", "Tekkaman Blade", "Danguard Ace", "Kamen Rider" "The Red Spectacles" and "Ultraman Taro" .
Yoshinori Sayama - Tech - Illustration and Design Works
Notes: Yoshinori Sayama's self published (i.e. doujinshi) book of his very distinctive drawings and artwork. The book contains black and white line drawings of his work for Gundam, Tekkaman Blade and Patlabor, all of which he worked on as mechanical designer. This book was only sold at winter Comic Market (Comiket 47) in late December 1994.
Ueno Toshiya - Red Metal Suits - Wars in Animation
Notes: This book by author Ueno Toshiya contains essays on robots including those which appear in Patlabor. From what I understand the book looks at the practicality of anime robots in real life situations, mainly warfare. Other anime robots and robotics from "Ghost in the Shell", "Gundam" and "Evangelion" are also discussed.
Complete Works of Mamoru Oshii - Urusei Yatsura to Avalon
Notes: A very detailed book about Mamoru Oshii's output of work from the late 1970's to 2001. Also highlighted are just about every person he has collaborated with including members of Headgear. Naturally Patlabor is discussed quite a bit in this book including a section on the work on the Dolby Digital 5.1 channel remix for the first two Patlabor films.
Masami Yuki's Endless Story Ten no Maki
Notes: Compilation of the first eight years of Masami Yuuki's manga essay column which featured monthly in Newtype magazine, which of course features his musings on Patlabor and it's development into an anime.
